Verti draining
Verti draining is an important part of annual grass maintenance. Not only does it alleviate waterlogged playing surfaces, it relieves the compaction caused by heavy machinery and regular play. At North East Grass Management, we use our own state of the art Vertidrain machinery to pierce equally spaced holes into the ground to aerate the soil and allow drainage, which promotes healthy growth.
Top dressing
This is one of the most common services we provide, it is applied to sports pitches and grounds to level out imperfections on the surface, while providing the ideal environment for new seeds to germinate.
We employ scarification and aeration to remove the excess thatch and surface soil allowing the top dressing to be worked into the ground. We use mechanical spreaders and other specialist equipment to ensure it is spread evenly and worked carefully into the ground. Applied in conjunction with vertidraining this treatment also improves drainage.
Chain harrowing
This is used on grazing land to spread out dung, level mole hills and break up dead material, which vastly improves the health of the field. Similarly, in sports pitches a light chain harrowing is used to level out uneven ground after heavy use.
Over seeding
Over seeding is used to treat areas of grass that have become sparse from over use as well as re-establishing a good ratio of grass species in a specific area. Seeding is often done in conjunction with top dressing and verti draining which is why we prefer to offer these services as an annual package.
